On June 23rd the people of Cádiz celebrate the ‘Noche de San Juan,’ a magic night that is infused with positive energy, the same energy that flows through us the whole summer, which makes us laugh and enjoy ourselves much more than the rest of the year.
On this night, in the province of Cádiz, the beaches are filled with bonfires to burn the giant rag dolls that crown them (a bit like Guy Fawkes in the UK). The Spanish are completely charmed by the rituals, we love them.
The most important thing is to wet your feet on the beach and wash your face in the sea, it’s a tradition that will help us to be beautiful all year round and to keep us young and healthy!
Another ritual is to take a piece of paper and write all the bad things that have happened to you during the year, then you burn this paper on the bonfire.
The most important thing of this day, of course, is having a good time with your family and friends on the beaches of our province.
